We are going to explore some of the local and national organizations located in San Antonio that are always looking for volunteers.

Animal Defense League
A lot of people would enjoy volunteering their time helping animals, and there are a large number of animal shelters that need extra help. If you love animals and lending a helping hand sounds like something you like to be a part of, the Animal Defense League is looking for someone like you. The organization looks for people over the age of ten that can commit to at least six hours each month for at least three months time. These volunteers will help carry out the mission of being a no-kill animal shelter.

Christian Senior Services
Christian Senior Services partners with Meals on Wheel as well as Senior Companions to help deliver meals to seniors that are nutritious. They serve over 5,000 seniors each year. Along with delivering meals, they also provide entertainment, offer assistance to the elderly who are homebound and will also provide food for their companion animals.

San Antonio United Way
The United Way helps to change the lives of many people within the area. There are many opportunities to volunteer within the United Way such as mentoring students, preparing bags of food, spending time with the elderly and volunteering on a non-profit board. These opportunities are designed to work with you particular schedules and strengths. The United Way helps to improve the care and education of children and fund agencies offering mental health support, among many others.

San Antonio Food Bank
The Food Bank helps to feed the hungry within San Antonio with your volunteer efforts and serves 16 counties within the area. The San Antonio Food Bank provides food for their clients today but also gives them the resources become self-sufficient for themselves and their families. The Food Bank offers programs to everyone from children, seniors, families, individuals, and anyone else in need.
